Myrtlewood Golf Club has long been one of Myrtle Beach’s most popular facilities, and the recent course renovation of Palmetto and PineHills has elevated the venerable property even further.
In 2019, architect Dan Schlegel oversaw an extensive greens and bunker renovation project on the Palmetto Course. Schlegel and his team installed new Sunday Ultradwarf Bermuda grass greens and restored the putting surfaces to their original dimensions, an effort that expanded the layout’s greens by 28 percent.
Every bunker on the Palmetto Course was impacted by the project as well, making them more visible along fairways and creating challenges, particularly for low handicap players taking aggressive lines.
Golfers have flocked to the Palmetto Course since its September 2019 reopening, relishing the chance to enjoy a layout their fellow players have been raving about.
The popularity of the work at the Palmetto Course was hardly a surprise given the impact of a similar project on the PineHills Course in 2017. Founders Group International, Myrtlewood’s parent company, installed Sunday Bermuda at PineHills, and the result was nothing short of spectacular.
PineHills has featured smooth, fast putting surfaces in the aftermath of an effort that also saw the course’s bunkers renovated.
Even before the restoration work on both courses, Myrtlewood Golf Club & Myrtlewood Villas were a favorite of locals and traveling golfers alike as the property is set along the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway in the heart of Myrtle Beach.
The skillful use of mounding and strategic placement of water hazards helps make the PineHills golf course a modern masterpiece of beautifully contoured fairways. Originally known as The Pines, PineHills was redesigned by Arthur Hills and is routed along the same path as its predecessor.
Myrtlewood’s Palmetto golf course has a traditional design that offers gentle sloping fairways with a variety of hazards, bunkers and large, subtle undulating greens. Palmetto is consistently ranked as one of the top repeat-play courses along the Grand Strand.
Surrounded by these courses' lush, rolling fairways, Myrtlewood Villas' spacious condo rentals feature a full kitchen, generous living area, departure housekeeping service, outdoor pools with patio grills and easy access to the beach. Plus, you're just moments away from all of the area's hottest attractions and Broadway at the Beach.
